Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel will sign a new three-year deal with the club next week, according to Neil Jones of the Liverpool Echo.
Midfielder Joe Allen’s contract talks are going smoothly as well and he is also expected to commit his future to Liverpool.
Skrtel’s deal has been agreed between all the parties involved and will be signed when the majority of the squad return for pre-season next Monday.
The Slovakian international was set to enter the last year of his contract and recently voiced his disappointment at the contract initially offered to him.
He stated that the contract offered to him would be more suited players with health issues or players nearing the end of their careers.
But it now seems that the issues have been resolved as Skrtel gets set to put pen to paper.
Skrtel, who joined from Zent St. Petersburg in 2008, made 33 league appearances for the Reds last season while Allen made 16.
