Origi set to stay in France

Liverpool have been pondering the decision to bring back striker Divock Origi this January, who was signed for £9m in the summer and loaned back to Lille for the season.

However, according to Paul Joyce from the Express, he is set to stay in France for the remainder of the season and join this summer.

This news breaks after the weekend that saw both Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert find the back of the net in a 2-0 win at Aston Villa, with Daniel Sturridge close to his long awaited return to the field in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, Mario Balotelli has recently stated that he would like to remain at Anfield and fight for his place up front.

Raheem Sterling has been utilised in a ‘false nine’ formation this year, and Jordon Ibe was recalled from his loan spell at Derby County a few days ago.

It suggests that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t see it as the right time to bring him back earlier than planned, and that he believes in his current options.

The club were prepared to bring him back at the cost of an added fee, however it now appears that they will leave the situation be and he will stay put for now. It now insinuates that there will be no other incomings this January.

Origi has been labelled ‘world class’ by manager-to-be Rodgers and impressed for Belgium at the Wold Cup in June/July 2014, however he has scored just 4 times for Lille this season in 26 appearances.
