Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t likely to return until at least November after undergoing knee surgery.
The Liverpool Echo report that the procedure was a success and that the midfielder has already begun his rehabilitation process at the club’s training ground.
The Reds were hopeful that the 24-year-old would be able to return at the start of next season, but it appears his recuperation period will be significantly longer than first expected.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was stretchered off in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Roma, meaning he will miss this Summer’s World Cup with England.

The injury clearly came at the wrong time for the player, who was really beginning to grow into the side following his £35m switch from Arsenal last summer.
Speaking about Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury, manager Jurgen Klopp said:
I cannot believe that this wonderful player and person in such a positive situation helping the team, making such a clear challenge, had this happen to him. I’ve told him already that we will wait for him like a good wife when a man is in prison.
