Pedro Rodriguez has added to speculation that he is to leave Barcelona after stating he is considering moving away from Camp Nou.
Since the arrival of former Red Luis Suarez, the 27-year-old has seen his game time become limited. Last season he started just 15 games in La Liga.
Last month it was announced that Barcelona had offered the winger a new long term deal until 2019, which came as a surprise to some fans.
However, Spainish newspapers Mundo Deportivo and Sport have recently claimed that Pedro may be contemplating leaving the Catalan giants.
“It is obviously a delicate situation. [When the pre-season starts] we have to see what is the best for everyone. Now I just think about resting and enjoying the final few days of my time off,” explained Pedro.
The new deal was just to increase any potential transfer offers for the player capped over 50 times for Spain.
However Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers could face a battle for the services of Pedro with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal rumoured to be interested.
Barcelona are willing to let the player go if any club meets the €30m price tag that the club have set.
If the Spaniard is to arrive on Merseyside it’s likely that he’ll be a replacement for want away star Raheem Sterling with Manchester City already having two bids rejected for the 20-year-old.
The Reds remain firm on their stance of a £50million valuation of Sterling.
While Pedro could be seen as Sterling’s ideal replacement, The Guardian understands that Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, who spent last season on loan at Villarreal, is also a possible target.
