Phillipe Coutinho wants to return to Liverpool this summer

Catalan publication Sport has reported that Brazilian international Phillipe Coutinho wants to return to Liverpool this summer

The Barcelona forward looks destined to leave the Nou Camp this season after spending last season on loan at German champions Bayern Munich but the German champions have decided not to sign the attacker on a permanent basis.

Given his large salary, it appears that suitors for Coutinho are few and far between at this point, even though Barca seem keen to move him on.

It must be said that Coutinho returning to Liverpool seems very unlikely at this moment in time.

There’s no doubt that during his time on Merseyside, the Brazilian was one of the best players in the league, but his form has dipped ever since his departure.

The astronomical sum that The Reds received for Coutinho paved the way for Jurgen Klopp to capture the signatures of Allison and Virgil Van Dijk, two integral players in this Liverpool side.

Since Coutinho’s departure, Klopp’s men have gone from strength to strength, winning the Champions League and the Premier League in the last year.

Although the Spanish publication may claim that Coutinho is eager for a move back to Anfield, it seems rather unlikely that anything will materialise as the finances make the move almost impossible.
