Pundit claims Liverpool should consider replacing Salah with Sancho this summer

Former Liverpool and Everton midfielder Don Hutchison claims Mohamed Salah “can’t pass a ball five yards” and says that he would consider replacing him with Jadon Sancho this summer.

Salah has had another strong season for the Reds, scoring 20 goals in all competitions, meaning he leads the scoring charts once again at Anfield.

Despite this, Hutchison told ESPN FC that he would get rid of the Egyptian instead of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, and bring in Sancho instead, highlighting some of the Liverpool superstar’s perceived weaknesses:

He can’t pass a ball five yards, he seems to keep playing this ball where he tries to nutmeg everyone from whatever side he’s on, if he’s coming off the right flank onto his left, tries to play it to a striker through a body of players that’s never, ever on.

And you watch him and go ‘Surely this has been coached, surely Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff have tried to coach Mo Salah’.

He does the basic things really badly, yet his numbers are frightening and he scores a ridiculous amount of goals in the Premier League and the Champions League.

I think if you’re going to sell anyone and you had to sell one – don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t sell any if I was Jurgen Klopp – but if one was to go and you offered Mo Salah for someone like Jadon Sancho, I maybe would take that swap.

I still think it is incredible how underrated Salah is as a player, considering what he has achieved in a Liverpool shirt.
The 27-year-old has scored 91 goals in 144 appearances for the Reds – a staggering total, especially considering he isn’t an out-and-out striker.

While Sancho would be an exciting signing by Liverpool, he isn’t yet as polished a player as Salah, still learning his trade.

I don’t personally think he would come straight in and record the kind of numbers Salah does – in fairness, who would?

It might only be when Liverpool’s No.11 leaves that some people will truly realise how good he was.
