Ahead of their Champions League final clash, Real Madrid’s honorary president and ex-player Paco Gento has no worries about Madrid’s opponents.
When asked about his sides chances on the night, Gento surprisingly told Spanish newspaper AS:
That goes without saying. It will be a piece of cake.
As well as his confident statement, he also had this to say:
Everyone gets excited by these kind of games – everyone wants to be there to support the team and cheer them on to win another European Cup – and continue this great run we’re in and which we have always enjoyed [in this competition]. Madrid cannot let this chance slip – finals are to be won, not played and Real Madrid know what is at stake.
Gento is the only player in the history of the game to have won the European Cup six times and will be hoping Madrid can go on to win their third title in a row.
However, his comment of the game being ‘a piece of cake’ will provide Jurgen Klopp with his bulletin board material ahead of the game as Liverpool love proving doubters wrong.
Plenty of players and officials from opposition sides have talked Liverpool down this season and they’ve all been proven wrong and the Reds will be hoping to make Gento eat his words on May 26th.
