The President of UEFA has confirmed that Real Madrid have returned over 1000 tickets ahead of the Champions League final.
Madrid face Liverpool in Kiev on Saturday and due to the cost of the tickets and travel, they have been returned to the club by the fans.
Alexander Ceferin, UEFA president had this to say:
Real Madrid has returned just over 1,000 tickets and these cannot be sold to Liverpool fans. It is a question of security.
Both teams were given an allocation of 16,626 tickets for their fans each and Liverpool have sold out their allocation but because of this news it looks like Real Madrid will not be selling out their allocation, and Liverpool will not be able to add to their allocation.
The final is being played at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex which can hold just over 70 thousand people. The rest of the seats not being taken by the fans are for hospitality members, rights holders, commercial partners, officials, players past and present and media.
