Former Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has stamped his approval on Liverpool’s imminent signing of Nathaniel Clyne.
Clyne, 24, is set to become the Reds’ sixth signing of the summer after Liverpool agreed a fee with Southampton, another of Redknapp’s former clubs.
He has reportedly completed a medical and agreed personal terms.
Redknapp is a fan of the right-back and had the opportunity to sign him for Spurs when he was at Crystal Palace three years ago.
The 68-year-old, on the social networking site Kicca, said:
“Nathaniel Clyne to Liverpool is a great move, although it seems Liverpool only seem to buy Southampton players now!
“We could have had him at Spurs when he was at Palace. He took his game to another level at Southampton and I think that’s a great buy by Brendan.”
The England international will join James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino as the new boys Anfield.
The 24-year-old will be the fourth player to join from the Saints in the last two years as he will be reunited with Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.
Liverpool are primed to announce Clyne’s arrival later this week.
