Liverpool have confirmed their first pre-season friendlies of the summer as they embark on a Premier League title defence in 2020/21.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will play two matches as part of their ongoing pre-season training camp in Austria.
The first meeting will see the Reds face German side VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, August 22nd before a meeting Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday, August 25th.
These matches will possibly make up the only friendlies of the summer as the quick turnaround means these clashes come just days before Liverpool kick-off their competitive action when they take on Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley.
The first meeting will see centre-back Nat Phillps face the side he spent last season on loan with, whilst the clash with Salzburg will be an early reunion for Takumi Minamino as the Japanese international faces the club he left for Liverpool in January.
There is, of course, recent history between Liverpool and the Austrians as the two met in last season’s Champions League group stage, with Klopp’s side winning 4-3 at home and 2-0 away.
