After months of being linked with Yevhen Konoplyanka, Liverpool and Tottenham are now set to battle it out for his compatriot Andriy Yarmolenko, according to the Daily Mail.
Liverpool representatives had been in Ukraine to seal a deal for Konoplyanka 18 months ago, but it fell through in the final hours of the transfer window. We all remember that.
Now it appears that they have turned their attentions to Ukraine’s other starting winger, who is currently plying is trade for Dynamo Kiev, who sealed the league title this season.
After leading his club to that success, Yarmolenko has claimed that now would be the “perfect time to change clubs” and that the club have promised him a move away from his homeland this summer.
“I think that right now is the perfect time to change clubs”, the winger said. “I promised that until we become champions, I was not going anywhere. I kept my promise, we became champions. The president knows that I want to leave, I have repeatedly spoken about this.”
The 25-year-old would reportedly command a fee of around £20m this summer, after scoring an impressive 14 goals in 26 league appearances, whilst netting 4 times in 11 Europa League matches.
