Liverpool have rejected a £30 million bid for Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, according to The Times.
Earlier this week, City put together a deal for the 20-year-old which includes an upfront guaranteed sum of £25 million and then a further £5 million in potential future payments.
However, this deal is not Liverpool’s liking and well below their valuation of the England international.
The Reds value Sterling at £50 million and will not entertain any bids which are lower than that.
Sterling looks likely to leave the club after contract talks between his representatives and Liverpool broke down.
The young winger rejected a £90,000 a week contract and his agent Aidy Ward is quoted as saying he wouldn’t even accept a contract “if they offered him £900,000 a week.”
City want to add the player to their ranks and improve their quote of home-grown players. Their rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the situation.
