Reds to return to Thailand

Liverpool have announced that they’ll be returning to Thailand this summer, two years after their last trip.

The Reds will face The True Thai Premier League All Stars as part of their pre-season schedule on Tuesday July 14.

Midfielder Joe Allen was a part of the squad that travelled to Thailand two years ago and told the club’s official site:

“I’m very excited I obviously had the pleasure of going there in 2013 and it was a real eye-opener. With so many Liverpool fans in Thailand the opportunity to play in the country is fantastic and the team re really looking forward to it.”

Brendan Rodgers’ men last played in Bangkok when they bet the Thailand national football team 3-0.

This year’s tour includes highly-anticipated trips to Brisbane, Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur, where the Reds will play the likes of Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United FC.

The fans in Thailand gave Liverpool an incredible reception, as Allen acknowledged:

“It was a great experience, not just inside the stadium but surrounding the game – there was red everywhere you can see how much they support our club.

“It was surreal really. It was strange to be so far from, yet the Thai team we played probably felt like they were the away side.

“These experiences are what being part of Liverpool is all about. The tour in 2013 was a great experience for me. So I’m really looking forward to doing it again, “explains Allen.”

Also joining the first team squad to Thailand will be former strikers and club legends Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush. Liverpool FC Foundation coaching staff will also be out to work alongside the community.
