Varsky Sports might not be the most familiar name to football fans in Europe but he is very well known in South America and he has a very good track record when it comes to reporting on South American stars.
Now, whilst Thiago is a Spanish international, he has Brazilian heritage, in fact, his brother even plays for Brazil.
So, when Varsky Sports reported last night that Liverpool had finally upped their bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago to £27.8m, it got the attention of plenty of people.
The journalist also stated that personal terms have been finalised between the player and the club, although that has been said for some time now.
Despite the report of the Reds upping their bid, it still may not be enough to persuade the German giants to allow their Spanish midfielder to depart.
The Bavarian side are seemingly upping their asking price to £32.4m (€35m) as the window heads to a close, a move Liverpool will not take kindly to, especially with the midfielder being available on a free transfer next summer.
Thiago was an integral part of the German side’s continental treble last season, playing 40 matches across all competitions.
Much of the talk has been about current Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum making way for the Spanish international, with reports of interest from Barcelona in the Dutchman.
However, Wijnaldum may now remain with the Anfield club beyond his current deal, having reportedly held positive talks with manager Jurgen Klopp according to a report on Sky Sports.
This transfer saga has now rumbled on since the season drew to a close, although an end now may finally be in sight, with Thiago perhaps joining Wijnaldum in the champions squad.
