Rhys Williams “should be okay” for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Leicester City, according to the Liverpool Echo‘s Ian Doyle on Twitter.

Jurgen Klopp has a number of injury problems on his plate going into Sunday’s visit of the table-topping Foxes, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez all definitely out.
There was no sign of Fabinho in training on Tuesday, which could also suggest he won’t be available. Should that be the case, Williams could partner Joel Matip at centre-back, having impressed in the 5-0 win away to Atalanta.
There were concerns when the 19-year-old was left out of England under-21s’ clash with Albania on Tuesday night, but it was more precautionary than anything, with minor stiffness the only issue according to manager Aidy Boothroyd.

The hope is that Fabinho is fit to play alongside Matip against a dangerous Leicester attack, simply because of his experience and quality. Should the Brazilian not be available, however, this could be a wonderful opportunity for Williams to prove himself.
He looks a more rounded footballer than Nathaniel Phillips, despite being four years younger – he is better on the ball for starters, enjoying an 86.5% pass completion rate this season, compared to Phillips’ 80.5% – and his ceiling appears to be higher.
Given the injuries affecting Liverpool, Williams should see the coming weeks as a perfect chance to show he can be trusted regularly.
