Brendan Rodgers was in a positive mood at Melwood today. With United coming up on Sunday, it’s important the Reds move on from their midweek disappointment. Here’s some of what Rodgers had to say…
“As you can imagine, we were disappointed after the Champions League game. Our objective was to qualify through the group stages and we didn’t do that.”
“One thing we’ve always retained here is the spirit in the camp, and no matter what the outside influencers speak about or write about, we’ve always retained that strong mentality.”
“We want to keep improving on the performance level. We’ve got some results of late, but we want to keep improving. And as my teams have shown, we’ll get better as the season goes on.”
“It’s [Sunday’s game] more than a football game. You’re representing a city and a group of supporters where there’s a great rivalry over many years.”
“This is a group that’s fully focused on winning and performing well, so the game against Manchester United is perfect for us.”
Brendan Rodgers also confirmed that Adam Lallana and Kolo Toure are ready for Sunday’s game, and that Mario Balotelli has been working well on the training field and will be assessed before hand.
