Rodgers must agree to transfer policy or face sack

Brendan Rodgers will remain in charge at Anfield as long as he accepts the transfer policy put in place by the club’s American owners.

David Anderson of The Mirror has reported that Reds boss Rodgers will meet with Tom Werner and Mike Gordon, FSG president, to discuss the club’s future and hold the “end-of-season review” in the next 24 hours on Merseyside.

After a disappointing campaign, Rodgers’ position at Liverpool certainly seemed under threat, especially after the 6-1 defeat to Stoke City on the final day.

It is now believed by most that the manager will more than likely be given the backing for another year, as the Reds hope to regain Champions League football.

But that can all change if the Northern Irishman attempts to disrupt the transfer policy that the owners have put in place for the club.

Their strategies have been questioned by many in recent years, including the Liverpool fans and it is thought that Rodgers would rather scrap the policy and “adapt their philosophy in the transfer market”.

Current transfer dealings are dealt with by a ‘transfer committee’ and signings are contemplated by a number of individuals.

Rodgers is now particularly after more developed, proven quality to add to the balance of the squad, and looks set to finalise a deal for James Milner this week.
