Italian giants AS Roma have made a surprise enquiry with Liverpool over Spanish left back Alberto Moreno, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato Web.
Their report explains that sporting director Walter Sabatini is keen on flying over to Merseyside to make their interest official and attempt to bring Moreno back with him, despite the full-back preparing for just his second season with the Reds.
It is reported that he wants to try and secure a deal whilst also going in for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko during his stay in England.
Calcio Mercato Web claim both Sabatini and manager Rudi Garcia are very interested in the 23-year-old and the Serie A outfit are likely to offer £8m although the Reds will demand £10m, should a shock deal actually happen.
It seems unlikely that Liverpool would sell Moreno, a seemingly popular figure amongst the squad and in fact the supporters too.
After an on-off season, Reds fans are looking forward to seeing the pacey left-footer step up his game and help push the five-time European Champions back towards the top of the Premier League.
Moreno has made 41 appearances since his £12m move from Sevilla last season, scoring twice, including a memorable goal at White Hart Lane.
