Sheff United hold talks with Liverpool over Brewster loan

Sheffield United have held talks with Liverpool over the possibility of loaning Rhian Brewster next season, as per a report from 90min.

However, the Blades are not alone in their interest, with multiple Premie League clubs also keen on the striker.

Brewster, who enjoyed a fantastic end to last season, leading Swansea to the Championship play-offs with 10 goals in 20 matches, has begun this pre-season in great form in front of goal.

The striker has netted three goals during the Reds’ opening two pre-season fixtures in Austria, including two in Tuesday’s second-half comeback against RB Salzburg.

The report claims that a source at Liverpool have said they are delighted with Brewster’s progress but they still see the best option in terms of his development is to go out on loan next season, this time to a fellow Premier League side.

Blades boss Chris Wilder apparently believes that Brewster would fit perfectly into his system at Bramall Lane as the Sheffield side look to build on their impressive return to the top flight last season, which saw Wilder lead the club to a ninth-place finish.

Whilst many associated with the Reds might’ve expected his pre-season form and his previous potential to be enough to see him warrant a place in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for 2020/21, realistically, Brewster would likely find first-team opportunities few and far between, leaving perhaps no option but for another loan move.
