Yesterday saw Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold named in England’s Euro 2020 squad.
The pair will no doubt play important roles for the country in the upcoming tournament.
With that comes the possibilty of where and when they will play under Gareth Southgate.
Henderson, naturally, will no doubt operate in midfield as he does for Liverpool.
Trent, however, seems to be the subject of much debate between Southgate and the media.
The England manager had suggested the possibility of the Liverpool youngster also playing in midfield for England.
However, following the squad announcement yesterday, Southgate now feels that will be unlikely…
It seems as though Southgate is now retracting on the possibility of Trent playing in midfield.
It would have been interesting to see the youngster try his hand at it, especially in a major tournament.
However, with Southgate now unlikely to play him in midfield, he will no doubt make his impact from his usual right-back.
The youngster has been an incredible player for the Reds in that position and can easily replicate that for Southgate.
Although, with Southgate only picking five midfielders in his final squad, it does start to make you think.
Whether he is being honest about not playing him in midfield is yet to be seen, but one thing for sure is that it would be more than entertaining.
