Football London have said that Tottenham have moved ahead of rivals Liverpool in the battle to get the signature of 21-year-old Max Meyer.
The Schalke midfielder is known to Jurgen Klopp following his management at Dortmund and it is rumoured the £17m rated German is now closer to signing for Spurs.
He has reportedly indicated he will not sign a new deal at the German side when he contract runs out next summer, which put Liverpool, Tottenham and Hoffenheim on red alert.

Meyer made 39 appearances in all competitions for Schalke last season and recently featured for Germany’s U21’s, where they won the European Championships. He scored 1 and created another to raise his profile even more, proving he really is a talent for now as well as for the future.
The speedy midfielder is versatile and can play in an attacking midfield role or out wide on the wing.
If Liverpool are to assert more intent to improve on last season’s performance, they should be aiming to bring Meyer in and he really could become a world star in the making.
Having been scouted by a number of clubs, it looks more likely he could be heading to the Premier League but at the moment more likely to Tottenham.
