Raheem Sterling is reportedly in doubt about his future at Liverpool, after the club offered him a long-term, £70,000 per-week deal.
The club’s exit from the biggest European competition on Tuesday, plus the likelihood of Liverpool struggling to re-qualify again next season, is said to be a concern for the youngster.
It’s thought that Sterling wants Champions League football as he believes it will aid his development going forward.
Liverpool are obviously keen to tie down arguably their best talent in the squad, and may have to exceed their initial offer to do so.
It may well just be agent talk to drive a hard bargain and force the Merseyside club to pay up, but equally it could be serious talk from Raheem Sterling, who clearly has a very bright future in football.
It’s another blow for Liverpool, whose season goes from bad to worse currently, and may well be a sign of what’s to come should they fail to hit Champions League consistency.
