The saga of Raheem Sterling could be due to end in the coming days, with Sky reporting that Manchester City will make contact with the Liverpool hierarchy to attempt to iron out the scenario, with City keen for the Liverpool forward to join their squad sooner rather than later.
The transfer story that has gone on for the whole summer has threatened to turn even uglier this week, as Sterling failed to turn up to Melwood to train on two occasions, scting illness as the reason.
It is yet to be seen whether the player was unwell, yet it would be wholly believable if this was another attempt to force through a move by Sterling.
The move by City to contact Liverpool should be seen as a positive by both camps. It is clear that City would like to finalise the deal amicably and find a common ground over a play that is seen as important to the future of both Liverpool and Manchester City.
The next bid by City, however, is widely seen to be their last. This news will not force that hand of the selling club though, as with two years still on the players contract, there is plenty of time left to receive an acceptable bid for the player.
