Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has informed manager Brendan Rodgers that he does not want to go on the pre-season tour to the Far East and Australia with the team, according to Andy Hunter of the Guardian.
Sterling returned to training yesterday with the majority of the team and was in dialogue with Rodgers regarding the pre-season trip.
The 20-year-old told Rodgers that he still wishes to leave the club and also informed the Ulsterman that he does not want to be on the plane to Bangkok with the rest of the squad on Sunday.
This comes after Sterling had rejected a contract extension after the conclusion of last season.
A number of clubs were reportedly interested in him including Manchester United and Chelsea but it was Manchester City who had multiple bids rejected for the England international.
The last of those bids was worth £40m but Liverpool value Sterling at £50m.
A move away from Liverpool may gather pace during the pre-season tour.
