Striker Was a ‘Caged Lion’, According to Agent

Fabio Borini’s agent Marco De Marchi has likened his client to a caged lion and has said that the striker is looking to leave. After returning from a successful loan spell at Sunderland, Borini made just 12 appearances in the league last season. Therefore, the Italian international is seeking a move away from Merseyside in search of regular first-team football.

His agent spoke to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.

“Fabio wants a new experience.

“We expected more consideration from Liverpool. There are teams from all over Europe interested in him.

“Top clubs in Europe are keen on him, from the Premier League to the Bundesliga and there also clubs in Italy, but many clubs in Italy have had coaching changes and that has slowed things down.”

Borini is reportedly attracting interest from several Serie A clubs including Lazio and Sampdoria but his agent states that he has no liking towards a particular club at the moment. One thing for certain is that Borini is unlikely to experience the same sort of situation as he did last season.

“He has no preference, he just wants a team that gives him a clear chance to prove himself.

“Right now he feels like a lion in a cage.”

Borini was one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signing when he took over as Liverpool manager in 2012. He failed to hit the ground running and was sent out on loan to The Black Cats. His good form at the Stadium of Light brought about a £12 million bid from them, which was accepted by Liverpool. Borini turned down the move and opted to stay.
