Stubbs fearful of Liverpool winning Premier League title at Goodison Park

Former Everton centre-back Alan Stubbs admits he is worried about Liverpool winning the Premier League title at Goodison Park.

The Reds visit the Blues on Monday, March 16th and there is a possibility that a win at Goodison Park would clinch a first league title since 1990.

Jurgen Klopp’s men need 18 more points to guarantee glory, although if Manchester City slip up in their next four games that number could drop by the time the Merseyside derby arrives.

Speaking on the Ladbrokes Social Club, Stubbs admitted that he didn’t want Liverpool to become champions at Goodison, but did laud their brilliance as a team:

I hope it doesn’t come to that. [The reason is] because I think it could be toxic, the atmosphere and I think from that point of view, I don’t want them to do it.

I don’t want them to do it any way, but Liverpool have been brilliant this season and they are going to be worthy winners.

I think the idea of Liverpool winning the league on Everton’s home turf is a mouthwatering one, considering the rivalry between the Merseyside clubs.

That being said, my choice would always be to win it at Anfield, generating a party atmosphere in a stadium full of Reds supporters.

That would be a truly special occasion, in my opinion, making for memorable scenes on a truly significant day in the club’s history.

I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at the idea of Goodison glory, though, or winning the title away to Manchester City in April, avenging last season’s title race in style.
