Thiago Alcantara ‘agrees four-year Liverpool contract’

Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has taken another step forward as according to a report in RMC Sport, the Spaniard has now agreed terms on a four-year contract with The Reds.

As reported by journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Thiago has seemingly already announced his imminent departure to teammates.

Bouhafsi also claims that the midfielder has already found a house in the area, although it is unlikely any confirmation will take place until the completion of the UEFA Champions League, which Bayern are now favoured to win.

The Reds have been linked with the Spanish international for a number of weeks, with the Bayern man seemingly keen on the switch, however, the clubs are yet to agree on a fee.

For Jurgen Klopp, it is unlikely central midfield was at the top of his to-do list in the transfer window, the squad already boasts plenty of options in that position, however, a player of Thiago’s quality may prove too good to turn down.

Remarkably Thiago, who began his senior career with Barcelona, the side who he helped eliminate on Friday night in a humiliating 8-2 defeat, has won the league title in all of his seasons since joining Bayern in 2013.

The 29-year-old has earned himself a reputation as one of the best in the world in his position and will certainly add plenty to an already impressive Reds squad if the deal gets done.

Liverpool fans have another chance to see their potential new man in action on Wednesday night as Thiago’s Munich side face Lyon in the Champions League semi-finals.
