Thiago Silva fails to make Chelsea squad for vital Liverpool clash

Thiago Silva has failed to make Chelsea’s squad for their Premier League clash with Liverpool, football.london report.

The Reds entertain the Blues at Anfield this evening, in what is a huge game in the top four battle.

Chelsea are just a point ahead of Liverpool going into the match, so victory for Liverpool will take the champions above their rivals.

Despite returning to training this week following injury, Silva has not been included in Thomas Tuchel’s matchday squad.

The Chelsea boss has said he is “aware of not taking a risk” with the Brazilian, choosing to leave him out.

Silva’s absence is a blow for the west Londoners, with his vast experience potentially key on such a big night at Anfield.

It means Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger could continue as a back-three, as was the case during last weekend’s 0-0 draw away to Manchester United.

It is a night that needs to see Liverpool’s attack fire, which hasn’t always been the case this season, particularly with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Silva not being around could give the front-three an extra boost, with the aforementioned trio of Azpilicueta, Christensen and Rudiger arguably easier to target.
