Liverpool have been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen the Anfield ranks.
Following the departure of Gini Wijnaldum at the start of the summer, the Reds have been credited with an interest in a wide range of midfield replacement options – including the Spaniard.
Currently a one-club man and having played a leading role as Diego Simeone’s side lifted the La Liga title, it would come as a surprise were the 26-year-old be allowed to leave.
However, according to reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, as cited by Football Transfers on Twitter, a move could be on the horizon.

A further report from the Daily Mirror has credited Liverpool with a furhter interest whilst claiming Chelsea have already made a move for the ace.
Spanish outlet AS have reported that Atletico will demand €40million (£34.2million) for the 19-cap midfielder.
During 2020/21, Saul made 41 apperances across all competitions, scoring twice and adding one assist.

Valued at £36million and under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2026 (Transfermarkt), the mooted asking price would represent outstnading value for the Reds.
Capable of playing across a variety of midfield positions, as well as occasionally dropping into a central defensive role, the experienced Spaniard has made 374 senior appearances in Spain.
Despite operating in a different role as his career has advanced, Saul was the top goalscorer at the European Under 21 Championships back in 2017.
In terms of a replacement for Wijnaldum, this deal would implement a slight alteration in the midfield, but would certainly not diminish the quality.
