Liverpool are due to face Manchester United this afternoon at Old Trafford in a match with gigantic top four conditions for the Reds.
But as the sides prepare to face off in what is historically the greatest rivalry in English football, the match has been plunged into serious doubt as angry United supporters protest against the owners on the pitch in Manchester.
After protests broke out outside and at the team hotel – rendering the bus unable to depart for the stadium – sections of the supports have managed to make their way onto the pitch and put the game in serious doubt.

Whether the game can be played but with a delay remains to be seen as protestors continue to voice their displeasure at the club’s involvement in the recently proposed European Super League – as well as other far-reaching factors.

Whilst this is a fast-moving situation the preparation for both sides, were the game to go ahead, couldn’t really be much worse.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side are in desperate need of all three points to keep their faint top-four chances alive.
That said, the stance taken by the group against owners they believe do not have the best interest of the club at heart is certainly one to be admired – albeit perhaps with unwanted overtones.
