Liverpool have reportedly seen a bid rejected for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
Speculation has ramped up in the Spanish media this week linking the star to Anfield as the Reds attempt to find a replacement for Gini WIjnaldum.
The 26-year-old is believed to be open to a move away from the La Liga champions after suffering a downturn in form last season.
However, according to a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo, as cited by Billy Liddell on Twitter, an opening offer of £34million has been rejected.

The report claims Atletico will demand a higher fee for their versatile midfield ace, whilst a possible swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona could also be on the cards.
Last season, Saul scored twice and added one assist in 33 league outings – earning an average Sofascore rating of 6.87 in the process.

Signing the 19-cap Spain star would certainly resolve any midfield uncertainty in the Liverpool squad.
Predominantly an out and out central midfielder, Saul is capable of wreaking havoc in an attacking sense as well as dropping further back to help the defence.
Those attributes and an eye for a stunning goal would make the £36million valued ace the ideal summer arrival.
Whilst it’s not necessarily in the club’s nature to pay over the odds for anyone, nudging up the mooted offer just slightly could land an extremely talented player.
