Virals: Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe ‘asks to leave PSG’

Liverpool may have been handed the biggest boost yet in the long-term pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe

Regularly linked with the Frenchman, any move from the Reds always seemed unlikely given the extraordinary finances required.

However, the 22-year-old forward has reportedly ‘asked to leave’ the Ligue 1 giants, with his contract in the French capital due to expire in 12 months.

This is according to reputable French journalist Daniel Riolo, via Marca and as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter.

The RMC Sport journalist states that Mbappe ‘really does not want to stay’ and ‘does not believe in Leonardo’s (sporting director) project’ at PSG.

Already a World Cup winner and currently attempting to add a European Championship medal to an impressive international career, the 43-cap ace has established himself as among the elite.

Despite mopping up numerous domestic titles in France, Champions League glory alludes the Frenchman and could be a reason behind any move.

In 2020/21, Mbappe scored an astonishing 42 goals and registered 11 assists in 47 games across all competitions.

Signing the £144million valued ace would be a monumental move from Liverpool and would blow the transfer market apart.

Albeit unlikely to be short of a £100million fee required to make the move a reality, any desire to leave would make for an interesting dilemma in Paris.

Reticent for obvious reasons to allow their generational talent to leave the club, letting a player of Mbappe’s stature leave for nothing next summer would be the very worst-case scenario.

Possessing blistering pace, explosive power and truly clinical in front of goal, the man hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Cristiano Ronaldo would present a major, but a delightful headache for Jurgen Klopp moving forwards.

Fenway Sports Group would be going some way to mending an immense amount of bridges in sanctioning this deal.
