Colin Pascoe’s departure from the assistant manager’s role at Anfield has seen a number of ex-players linked with the position, and former Red Zended is the latest to be suggested by the media.
Pascoe was relieved of his duties following a poor season and Zenden was swiftly linked with the role by Sky Sports.
The Dutch national spent two happy years on Merseyside, making 46 appearances, as well as spells at Chelsea and Middlesbrough.
Since the end of his playing career he was assistant manager to Rafael Benitez at Chelsea and has been the top man at PSV Eindhoven’s reserve side Jong PSV.

On the prospect on join the club, Zenden told SoccerNews: “I keep all options open for the new season. I always enjoyed my time in the Premier League.”
