Alisson Becker to Juventus? Liverpool transfer talks developing ahead of summer exit

New updates are emerging about Alisson Becker’s future at Anfield, as Juventus continue to be interested in snapping up the injury-prone Liverpool goalkeeper.

Arne Slot was forced to shuffle his pack once again as Liverpool were forced to navigate a high-stakes Saturday lunchtime 1-1 draw against Chelsea without the services of Alisson Becker.

The Brazilian shot-stopper’s continued absence was felt as the Reds played out a cagey 1-1 draw with the London side at Anfield.

Despite the frustration of missing their first-choice goalkeeper, the Reds managed to secure a point, but the lack of Alisson’s commanding presence remains a talking point for supporters.

As the race for the top five intensifies, fans will be sweating on the fitness of their No.1, hoping his stint on the sidelines doesn’t derail a crucial run of fixtures at the tail end of the campaign.

Arne Slot welcomed Giorgi Mamardashvili back to the first team fold for this Premier League showdown with the Blues, as he had been nursing his own injury issues, but the Georgian looked shaky on his return, as he let in Enzo Fernandez’s free-kick, midway through the first half, to gift the West London visitors a 1-1 draw.

Hopefully, Alisson can feature in some capacity across Liverpool’s last two top-flight games of the season, as they could potentially prove to be his final two outings for Slot’s men, if emerging transfer reports are correct.

The latest on Alisson’s future

Alisson’s Liverpool future has long been up in the air, with the South American entering into the final year of his lengthy Anfield deal this summer.

TalkSPORT has now revealed that Juventus is advancing in talks to snap up Alisson when the season is over, with the two-time Premier League winner potentially open to the idea of a move, having previously called Serie A home with AS Roma.

While his injury issues this season have been deeply frustrating, this would be a big blow if Alisson were to pack his bags in the summer and leave Anfield behind.

Indeed, when he’s fit, he has been dependable over many seasons on Merseyside, with a mammoth 104 Premier League clean sheets under his belt for the Reds.

But, all good things must come to an end, eventually, and it looks as if Liverpool will be losing another leader figure in their camp, with both Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah also set to depart.

Liverpool would surely have goalkeeper targets up their sleeve if the two-time Premier League winner were to desert the Reds, as a major summer rebuild is on the horizon for Slot.

Liverpool’s future if Alisson does leave

The TalkSPORT report does state that Liverpool is on the hunt for a replacement if Alisson’s move to Juventus does become a reality.

It isn’t explicitly stated who the reigning Premier League champions have in mind, but other reports have suggested that Liverpool could have Aston Villa’s number one stopper Emiliano Martinez in mind as one possible successor to the Brazilian’s throne.

Alongside Martinez, Paris Saint-Germain stopper Lucas Chevalier could well be on Liverpool’s shopping list to try and fill the hole left by Alisson’s departure, with Slot likely not content with relying on both Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman to deliver the goods consistently.

Woodman did put in an inspired Merseyside Derby performance last month, alongside pulling off various memorable saves against Crystal Palace, but it would be unfair on the ex-Preston North End keeper’s shoulders to expect him to be a regular when he had only been used to being a reserve option at Anfield.

This summer transfer window is shaping up to be a seismic one from a Liverpool perspective, as an extensive rebuild is on the cards, with Alisson waving goodbye to his long-term home a growing possibility.
