Liverpool have reportedly rejected Inter Milan’s latest attempt to sign Curtis Jones after a £21m offer fell well short of the club’s valuation.
The approach, reported by The Times and carried in a fresh Paper Talk update from Sky Sports, is said to be Inter’s second failed move for the Liverpool midfielder. The figure under discussion underlines the distance between the Italian club’s interest and Liverpool’s stance on a player still viewed as a valuable first-team asset.
Jones, 25, remains one of the more intriguing names around Liverpool’s summer because he combines homegrown status, Premier League experience and tactical flexibility. Inter’s latest offer has not shifted Liverpool’s position, with the Merseyside club understood to regard the bid as far below what would be needed to open serious negotiations.
Why Liverpool’s Jones stance matters
For Liverpool supporters, the key point is not just the rejection but the tone of it. A £21m package for a midfielder of Jones’ profile would leave Liverpool needing either a replacement or a clear internal pathway, and neither comes cheaply in the current market.
The timing also matters. With pre-season decisions approaching and Liverpool balancing midfield numbers under Andoni Iraola, Jones’ situation can quickly become more than a fringe transfer story. Unless Inter return with a much stronger proposal, Liverpool’s response suggests they are in no mood to let the academy graduate leave at a discount.
