Liverpool are close to announcing the signing of Andrew Robertson from Hull City in a deal that could be worth around £10m.
To get the lowdown on the player, I spoke to somebody who watched him play every week; Dmitri Colville of Hull City Fans TV.
The general consensus on Robertson seems to be that he is good going forward but is a bit susceptible at the back, is that fair?
Yes absolutely! He can be very dangerous going forward and he likes to run at defenders. Unfortunately, the quality of his crossing is quite inconsistent and his defending isn’t the best.
In terms of attacking, what are his main strengths?
He has pace, is a good dribbler and he likes making and receiving quick passes. He’s a very intelligent player too in terms of an attacking sense, his movement is very good.
You said his defending isn’t great, what issues for he tend to have in that area?
Firstly, he lacks strength. He can also be rash with his challenges and he lacks precision at times too.
What do you make of the fee, £10m seems pretty cheap?
If we were run by competent owners, we could be selling him for double what we are. £10m for a talented player with lots of potential is a bargain, especially in today’s market.
Do you think he’s good enough to play for a Champions League side?
He’s not good enough yet for you to start in my opinion. But should be in a position to come on as a sub and compete for a starting job.
