Milner forced out of Napoli clash with injury blow

Liverpool have suffered an injury blow during their pre-season clash with Napoli as James Milner was forced off with a head injury.

The midfielder clashed heads with Portuguese defender Mario Rui and was unable to continue against the Serie A runners-up.

Whilst the injury appeared nasty, the situation was completely accidental.

Summer signing Fabinho came off the bench to replace the former England international.

While it is yet to be seen how serious the injury is, it will come as a blow to Jurgen Klopp’s men as they continue their preparations for the new season.

Milner had put the Reds in front earlier in the game before Gini Wijnaldum doubled their lead.

Mohamed Salah has since extended Liverpool’s lead to three before Daniel Sturridge continued his impressive pre-season with the fourth goal for the Reds.

Klopp will be hoping to have the experienced midfielder passed fit in time to play West Ham in the season opener at Anfield.
