Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez is “world-class” and draws comparisons with Bobby Moore, according to former striker Tony Cascarino.
Gomez has enjoyed an immaculate start to the season, proving to be arguably the Reds’ most consistent player and shining for England, too.
The 21-year-old has produced back-to-back Man of the Match showings for the Three Lions, in wins over the USA and Croatia.
Writing in the Times after Sunday’s crucial UEFA Nations League victory over the latter, Cascarino spoke glowingly about Gomez:

Mark my words, Joe Gomez is destined to be England’s first-choice centre half for the next ten years.
When the national manager comes to pick his defence, the Liverpool man will be the first name down. For me he is up there with Raphael Varane, of France, as world class.
Gomez has everything you need in a centre half and more – pace, strength, heading ability, composure and a long throw, too, to provide set-piece chances.
He has a mentality that reminds me of Bobby Moore, in that he does the simple things so well. He sees the ball and goes and wins it.

At just 21 years of age, Gomez’s potential is frightening, both for Liverpool and England.
He has recovered admirably from a cruciate ligament injury picked up in 2015, gradually reaching the level many expected of him after moving to Anfield from Charlton Athletic.
Now an undisputed key man for club and country, he is enjoying comfortably the best spell of his ever-impressive career.
