Liverpool forward Lazar Markovic has missed a month of action with a calf injury, report the Liverpool Echo.
The Serb has been deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp, having not represented the Reds since May 2015.
Numerous chances arose for Markovic to leave in the summer, but he remained at Anfield beyond deadline day.
Although many simply assume the 24-year-old has been training away from his teammates, he has in fact been injured for the last month.

He has been suffering from a calf injury picked up in training, which has prevented him from even playing for Liverpool’s Under 23s, as has been the case in the past.
The report states that Markovic is “hoping to prove his fitness before the January window opens”, with a view to a permanent transfer elsewhere.
The former Benfica youngster has been one of Liverpool’s most disappointing signings this decade.
Huge things were expected of him when he made the big-money switch to the Reds in 2014, but he has never come close to reaching his potential.
The winger has been sent out on loan to Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht since joining Liverpool, summing up how much his stock has fallen.
