Tottenham v Liverpool Champions League final preview and a new odds checker tool

On Saturday it’s the big one, the second all Premier League European final of the week, The Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool. Liverpool are aiming to win their 6th European cup whereas Tottenham are looking for their 1st win in their first ever appearance. Both team’s seasons basically hinge on this game as a loss for either team will mean delight for rival fans as a terrific season will be considered a waste without a trophy to show for it. If you think you know who will edge it, make use of this new odds checker tool, it’ll give you the best odds available across loads of sites.

Liverpool have had their best ever season in the Premier League and despite finishing with enough points to win every other Premier League of previous years, it was not enough, as they finished a solitary point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Tottenham on the other hand, who knocked out Manchester City in the quarter-final, had a decent league season finishing fourth and securing Champions League football for next season.

The way the football world is now, however, neither’s season will be viewed as a success if they lose Saturday. The one mark beside Klopp and Pochettino so far in their careers with Liverpool and Tottenham respectively is neither has won a trophy. Klopp has lost two European finals including last years decider against Real Madrid and Pochettino has reached one League Cup final but lost to Chelsea. Both have improved their teams massively since joining and both are wonderful managers but both need this win to cement their reputations as club legends

Both teams have had dramatic campaigns leading up to this point. Both looked to have spurned chances of getting through the group stage. In Tottenham’s case, they only picked up one point through the first three games and needed two wins and a draw away to Barcelona to secure passage through to the last 16. Liverpool, on the other hand, lost all their away games and needed to beat Napoli and keep them scoreless or win by two clear goals in the last game to go through. A Mo Salah goal and unbelievable last-minute save from goalkeeper Allison insured the result.

Both teams also had near unbelievably dramatic wins in the semifinals and the fact they followed one day after another made it even more so. Tottenham at half-time in their second leg away to Ajax found themselves 1-0 down on the night and 2-0 down on aggregate meaning they needed three second-half goals to progress. Step up super sub, Lucas Moura who scored a hat-trick which included a last-minute winner to send Spurs and their fans into ecstasy.

The night before, in maybe even more dramatic fashion, Liverpool found themselves staring down a 3-0 first leg deficit against Barcelona most peoples favourites to lift the trophy. Barcelona travelled to Anfield with odds on favourite, with Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi having one of the best seasons of his career. While Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino were missing for Liverpool, so many didn’t give them a prayer. Anfield always believes, however, and another famous European night unfolded under the Liverpool sky as they ran out 4-0 winners to book their passage to Madrid.

Harry Kane looks set to return from injury which will be a huge boost for Tottenham and likewise Roberto Firmino for Liverpool. Both teams play a high pressing, high octane type of game so the game is sure to be fast paced and full of action so expect goals and also, in my opinion, plenty of fouls and cards as both teams counter so fast.
