Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford has a new look after the Premier League confirmed the latest batch of fixture changes for May.
Arne Slot‘s men are entering into the final crunch months of the season, with an onslaught of fixtures coming their way in April and May, after Premier League action kicks back into gear from the international break.
Just one quick glance at the fixture list will worry Liverpool fans, with taxing games to come in April against Manchester City in the FA Cup, Paris St Germain in the Champions League, and a Merseyside Derby versus David Moyes’ tough to beat Everton.
May isn’t any easier, with crucial games on the calendar against Aston Villa and Chelsea, which could make or break Liverpool’s chances of sneaking into the coveted top four in the difficult division.
A trip to Manchester United is also on the agenda, as the curtain eventually falls on the challenging 2025/26 season, with a new rescheduled date now confirmed, for the Reds’ short trip over to the Theatre of Dreams from Merseyside.
The rescheduled fixture versus Manchester United
Initially set to take place on the 2nd of May, the showdown between two of English football’s fiercest rivals will now occur a day later than originally planned, with a 3:30pm kick-off time confirmed.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports subsequently, with many an eye surely watching this feisty clash, as Liverpool will likely have to put an impassioned display to try and secure a top-four spot.
Indeed, at the time of writing, Liverpool are sat six points behind Michael Carrick’s Red Devils, who occupy a very impressive third spot in the division.
While Slot side has struggled for some consistent form, as of late, Carrick’s men have gone from strength to strength under the 44-year-old’s interim reign, with only one defeat next to his name from ten games in charge.
However, all of this will be launched out of the window, by the time the match at Old Trafford actually kicks off, with Liverpool holding a slight advantage, when looking at recent contests between the Merseyside giants, and the Red Devils on their own soil.
Liverpool’s last five visits to Man Utd:
| Date | Competition | Result | Score |
| Sep 1 2024 | Premier League | Win | 0-3 |
| Apr 7 2024 | Premier League | Draw | 2-2 |
| Mar 17 2024 | FA Cup | Loss (AET) | 4-3 |
| Aug 22 2022 | Premier League | Loss | 2-1 |
| Oct 24 2021 | Premier League | Win | 0-5 |
Amazingly, Liverpool last lost at the Theatre of Dreams in league action way back in 2022, with Old Trafford usually a happy hunting ground for United’s arch rivals, instead of being a feared fortress to visit.
It remains to be seen if Slot’s men will reign supreme in Manchester again, or come unstuck, with Liverpool fans’ plans adjusted somewhat, by this late change in their beloved side’s jam-packed fixture itinerary.
