Gary Neville’s head must be pickled at the moment.
Not only are his beloved Manchester United performing like a pub side, but his most loathed team are also top of the Premier League by eight points.
Liverpool are striding clear as things stands, with Manchester City’s shock home defeat to Wolves on Sunday widening the gap.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Sunday, Neville attempted some early-season mind games, essentially claiming the Reds have the title in the bag already:
I don’t think they can lose it from here.
These Liverpool supporters have reacted to Neville’s comments on Twitter.
Of course he did. 30 games still to go. 2 vs City!

In fairness to Neville, he did also stress that it’s a long season and anything can happen, but it’s clear that the reverse psychology has begun.
He isn’t alone in that respect, with many supporters of rival clubs seemingly already crying it in, such is their horror at the thought of Liverpool being crowned champions of England.
The truth is that Jurgen Klopp’s side still have an enormous amount of work to do, up against arguably the best English club side of all time.
City will respond from their latest setback, while Liverpool have a taxing run of fixtures on the horizon.
If the Reds can still be eight points clear after they host City on November 10th, they will be a great position.
