Liverpool fans are furious with VAR after Man United’s first goal stands
Liverpool’s players were furious with referee Martin Atkinson for not giving a foul by Victor Lindelof on Divock Origi in the build-up to Manchester United’s first goal. Even so, the decision was then referred to VAR and, despite the footage clearly showing Lindelof catching Origi, the goal was allowed to stand.
As one could expect, Liverpool’s supporters were not happy with the decision and took to social media to vent their frustrations.
HOW IS IT NOT A FOUL?! TELL ME

We've been terrible, let's not lose sight of that, but the officiating has been unforgivable.
Par for the course against United.

I think that first half of VAR and refereeing decisions is on par with our British politics. An absolute disaster.

Can we just not use VAR to check for potential fouls anymore? It's a waste of time when literally no decision, no matter how bad, will be overturned so just use it for offside and handball and get it over with

VAR can do one

Read Liverpool Verdict
The foul on Origi was clear but the problem with VAR is that the bar to overturn decisions is just too high. Lindelof clearly kicks Origi but once the referee hadn’t awarded a free-kick, it was never going to be given by VAR.
Liverpool didn’t perform too well in truth, and did well to get a point, but they’ll still be annoyed at the manner of the first goal as it clearly should have been ruled out by VAR.
