Napoli reportedly fear that they could miss out on a deal to sign Sander Berge from Genk because of Liverpool’s interest in the player.
Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited on Sport Witness, claims that Gennaro Gattuso’s side have earmarked Berge as a potential alternative to Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira, who they are hoping to sign in January.
However, the report adds that the Naples outfit are worried that the Reds could trump any offer they make for Berge, with Jurgen Klopp a known admirer of the player.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to sign Berge following their Champions League meeting with Genk earlier in the season.

On paper, Berge looks like a quality addition to the Liverpool squad and if the club were to step up their interest, he would give Jurgen Klopp a great option in his midfield.
At 21, Berge would be a long-term signing who arrives with his best years ahead of him.
The midfield is certainly an area that the Reds need to strengthen, with Klopp already stretched in the middle of the park as it is.
Fabinho’s injury has given the club a scare and his absence from the team highlights why the Reds may want to consider bringing in an alternative during the January window.
