Liverpool had a scout present during Sunday’s thrilling Milan derby, keeping an eye on Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

That’s according to FA Inter News, who claim the Reds are eyeing up a move for the 27-year-old.

Brozovic has been a key man in Inter’s midfield this season, helping Antonio Conte’s side reach the summit of Serie A on goal difference.

The Croatia international has chipped in with three goals and five assists in the league, including a superb volley in Sunday’s 4-2 win over bitter rivals AC Milan.

Brozovic is an excellent player, in my opinion – one whose class stood out at the 2018 World Cup, where Croatia eventually lost to France in the final.

A dominant presence in the middle of the park, he has enjoyed an 89.4 per cent pass completion rate in Serie A this season, also averaging 1.5 key passes per game.

This quality in possession suggests Brozovic could shine in Liverpool’s midfield, not only in terms of ball retention, but also having a positive impact in the final third.

As a comparison, Jordan Henderson‘s pass completion rate in the Premier League this season is 84.7 percent and he makes one key pass per game, with Gini Wijnaldum on 90.4 per cent and 0.3, respectively.

Brozovic does turn 28 this year, however, so I would be surprised if Jurgen Klopp acquires his services.

The Liverpool manager’s preference has been to sign players in their early to mid 20s, as proven with the likes of Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane.

Klopp also has a wealth of midfielders at his disposal, with Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz linked with a move, too.
