Liverpool fans react as referee is confirmed for Sheffield United clash

Some Liverpool fans have been providing their thoughts on Mike Dean refereeing their next Premier League encounter this weekend.

Referees aren’t too popular with anyone of a Reds persuasion at the moment, following Saturday’s Merseyside derby farce at Goodison Park.

Michael Oliver and David Coote, working in tandem together, somehow didn’t send-off Jordan Pickford for a possible season-ending tackle on Virgil van Dijk, despite the Everton goalkeeper almost launching an assault on the Dutchman.

Not only that, but the pair also failed to award what looked like a legitimate last-minute winner for Jordan Henderson, with Sadio Mane adjudged to have been offside, despite seemingly being in line.

Liverpool have had a stinging feeling of injustice for days now, but they can’t afford to let it affect their performances.

It has now been revealed that Mike Dean will take charge of Liverpool’s next league outing, which takes place on Saturday night.

The Reds welcome struggling Sheffield United to Anfield and many eyes will be on the performance of the officials.

Dean is know for being one of the more noticeable officials in the top flight, but Liverpool supporters will just want a strong performance from him.

Here’s the best of the reaction to his appointment on Twitter, with negativity generally the order of the day.

They're all terrible
