Liverpool have suffered another injury scare, with Harvey Elliott picking up a knock on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
The 17-year-old has made an impressive start to life at the Championship club, shining with his technical quality. Elliott came on as a second half substitute in Blackburn’s 3-0 win away to Preston on Tuesday but his night ended prematurely.
The Liverpool youngster lasted just 20 minutes before leaving the pitch with a knee injury. Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, however, Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray allayed fears over the situation being a serious one:
The early news is that we hope it’s just a kick. It’s come up pretty quickly, a bruise, but it doesn’t look like it’s badly damaged.
When you think of a knee injury you think of ligaments but it doesn’t seem to be anything like that.
Just a pretty severe kick and we’re hoping that’s all it is. People like Harvey Elliott cannot play every three days.
The eight first-team players we have unavailable we need to get them back as soon as we can.

It would have been a bitter blow for Elliott if the injury had kept him out for a long period, curtailing his progress. The forward has made such a promising start at Blackburn, with one goal and three assists to his name in the Championship already this season.
Some Liverpool youngsters go out on loan and you don’t really feel they will end up making the grade at Anfield, but Elliott is different. He looks a genuinely special prospect and the fact that he is already thriving in such a tough league, against far more seasoned professionals, is encouraging.
Elliott will hopefully be back in action as soon as possible, twisting defenders inside out.
