Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has expressed his concern over the form of ”wasteful” Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian squandered a host of chances in the goalless draw against Manchester United.
The 39-year-old was replying to fans in his ‘Ask Crouchie’ section for the Daily Mail and told of his worry over Firmino, stating: ”It was a hard watch on Sunday but what alarmed me was how wasteful Roberto Firmino was in front of goal.
“I thought he was back in the groove when he sparkled at Crystal Palace last month, but it is just not happening for him — or his team.”
Having come in for criticism earlier in the season, not helped by the red-hot form of Diogo Jota, the 29-year-old had seemingly proved the doubters wrong when he scored the winner against Tottenham and grabbed a brace in the 7-0 triumph over Crystal Palace just before Christmas.
However, his form has dipped once again and his latest wayward efforts have done little to aid his cause.

Firmino is unlikely to ever come under extreme scrutiny for his lack of goals among the bulk of Liverpool fans. Many Kopites will always hold the number nine in very high esteem for what he has done and for his influence on the Reds’ front three.
Truthfully, the current problems extend beyond Firmino, with the usually reliable Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah also going through something of a goal drought.
Despite not necessarily being judged solely on goals like other centre-forwards, the South American can’t afford to be missing opportunities as he did on Sunday, especially in such a tight contest against the current league leaders.
