Liverpool missed the chance to make an immediate return to the summit of the Premier League yesterday as they were held to a goalless draw at Anfield by rivals Manchester United.

The Reds were far from their fluid, swashbuckling best but they had their moments as they made it 68 league matches unbeaten at home.

Despite having much of the possession, Jurgen Klopp‘s side failed to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, with half-chances at best falling at the feet of Roberto Firmino, only for the Brazilian to fluff his lines.

A draw was perhaps a fair result ultimately as the makeshift Liverpool defence of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were almost breached on the counterattack before Alisson Becker came to the rescue on two standout occasions.

The solitary point means that Klopp’s defending champions keep the pressure on at the top, although another blank in front of goal has made it three league matches without finding the net.

Worrying trends have set in for the Reds which they will be hoping to put right on Thursday night against Burnley.

Here’s how we rated Klopp’s men from yesterday’s stalemate…
