Liverpool owner John W Henry addresses fans after club withdraws from European Super League

Last night saw Liverpool withdraw their involvement in the proposed European Super League.

The club released an official statement last night detailing their decision to ‘discontinue their involvement’.

It was great news for football fans, as the other five Premier League clubs also announced their withdrawal from the proposal.

This morning, however, Liverpool’s official Twitter account released a video from owner John W Henry.

In the video, Henry addresses the fans and apologises for the hurt and anger that he and his team has caused…

The apology is important and although it likely doesn’t change fans’ newfound opinions.

Thankfully, it shows a clear understanding of their wrongdoings.

It is clear that this decision has damaged FSG’s position as club owners indefinitely.

Their position as club owners had on the whole been a positive one, with them helping the club to be financially dependable.

This was a huge bonus, as many football clubs are kept afloat by their owners’ investments alone.

Football is a sport for the people and Liverpool Football Club follows this to the latter.

The European Super League took away the rights of fair competition and that hard work makes for reward.

Luckily for football fans, English clubs have realised this and will now set to correct the errors of their decision.

However, it is unclear if the damage caused can ever be repaired.
